It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. Please read the Terms of Use. 198 matching French and English games cards with a reference, recall and write workbook, focusing on 99 beginner French words and phrases. The target vocabulary is in the following vocabulary groups: = Les salutations = Les jours de la semaine = Les mois et les saisons de l’année = Les nombres 0-20 = Ma famille = Mots fréquents = Le français pour la salle de classe = Questions et réponses My students really like to work independently, in pairs and in small groups, and these vocabulary cards enable them to do that. There are lots of games and activities to play, and I’ve described several that are successful with my groups. Giving students regular and frequent opportunities to work with the cards is really effective, and not only when we’re focusing on these particular vocabulary themes, but also across the school year, and even when they’re far more advanced in their learning - all learners benefit from going back to the start. Varying teaching and learning methodologies in the languages classroom is really important, and these cards enable students to learn entirely independently. There’s definitely some prep involved - printing, laminating and cutting out - laminating is certainly worth the effort, as the cards are a lot more learner-friendly, and do last for years. Students don’t have to play with full sets - they can work with selected vocabulary groups. The 18-page workbook gives students a different way of consolidating their vocabulary - writing it out really helps to embed language, and is great for spelling too. There are 3 differentiated recall and write challenges, as well as a full alphabetical French-English vocab list, which works well as a longer-term reference resource too. Students are able to apply their French creatively and practically with the games cards template. Written Recall Challenge One: students write the English word /phrase from a French prompt, with all the words and phrases grouped together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Two: with this challenge, students write the words/phrases in French from an English prompt, and again, they’re all group together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Three: this final challenge ‘switches’ at each question from French to English, and lists words and phrases randomly from each category Have a browse in my store for more French independent learning activities, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles, French resource boxes, and lots of freebies. The vocabulary groups are: = les salutations = les couleurs (masculine and feminine) = les parties du corps (singular and plural) = le temps = les nombres 21-40 = les phrases pour la salle de classe = questions et réponses My students love to learn independently, and really enjoy playing the games in pairs or small groups - I’ve described several that work particularly well for them. Even my more advanced students like to revisit the vocab, just to be sure they’re confident with it. It’s best to revisit the vocab regularly and frequently over a whole school year, not just when you’re focusing on these specific vocab groups. They can apply their French practically by creating games or vocab quiz cards for each other using the card template. Writing out vocabulary can also really help learners consolidate their vocab - the 18-page workbook has 3 differentiated recall and write challenges. I always like to give my students longer-term reference resources, so I’ve put a full French-English vocabulary list at the front of the workbook. If you can, do laminate the cards - I know it’s time-consuming, but they look great, are better to work and learn with in the classroom, and really do last in great condition for years. Written Recall Challenge One: students write the English word /phrase from a French prompt, with all the words and phrases grouped together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Two: with this challenge, students write the words/phrases in French from an English prompt, and again, they’re all group together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Three: this final challenge ‘switches’ at each question from French to English, and lists words and phrases randomly from each category - I’ve found that this really does encourage my students to think hard about their French vocab. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. These Primary Spanish animals display posters/flashcards create a fabulous Spanish look and feel in the learning environment. I’ve found that this also helps promote Spanish as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of beginner learners of Spanish, both primary and secondary. They introduce learners to a range of animals in Spanish from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarize themselves with how Spanish words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. My younger Spanish students really love the animals posters, and like to compare the Spanish and English words. I’ve found that they also help very young children develop their growing understanding of the animal kingdom. We don’t necessarily learn all the animals, but we do use them for pronunciation and speaking practice, and for memory games too. They really give the classroom a great Spanish ambiance too. Students definitely notice the different words for a/an, and ask why some animals are un, and others are una. I’ve used this as a useful prompt to introduce the concept of gender. The posters work just as well as flashcards, which are great for introducing and practicing language in general (students don’t have to learn them all!), and for playing games to engage students with Spanish. There are 20 animals using the masculine and feminine indefinite article, which again is a great opportunity to begin to compare Spanish to English. I’ve chosen a couple of insects and birds, as well as animals that feature in very popular stories, such as orso and lobo. The animals are: a bear : a bee : a bird : a butterfly : a cat : a dog : a fish : : a fox : a frog : a horse : a kangaroo : a monkey : a mouse : an ow : a parrot : a rabbit : a spider : a squirrel a turtle / tortoise : a wolf There are two sets of 20 9.5x11 (A4) portrait posters, with two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag or animal footprint, so 40 posters in total. I always laminate my posters / flashcards as they hang a lot better, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and definitely last in excellent condition for years. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

FRENCH NUMBERS 0-100 WORD SEARCHES

KS3 FRENCH NUMBERS 0-100 GCSE FRENCH NUMBERS 0-100 KS4 FRENCH NUMBERS 0-100 Ten differentiated word searches with answer keys Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. Word searches are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practising and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on Numbers 0-100, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The searches offer a really useful learning opportunity - enabling learners to engage with the target vocabulary, but also aligning with cross-curricular learning - working on reading, writing, spelling, numeracy and French language skills in general. Learners are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. As they move through the grids, their language skills are challenged in a range of ways - from straightforward vocabulary searching, to gap-fill, scrambled letters and more complex questions, which feature mathematical language in French. Hyphens are important in French numbers, and the grids feature these quite clearly, in order to ensure that learners can practise this aspect of language. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. For me, answer keys are essential, as they not only provide learners with another opportunity to engage with language, but they also help them develop more independence in their learning. They’re also a great teacher time-saver - a real bonus! There are two formats to choose from - the search grids and answer keys as separate worksheets, and also a file with both grids and answer keys together, so that you can print each grid and key double-sided, according to which suits your classroom needs better. Have a browse in my store for more French resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON APPRENTISSAGE !

It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. Challenge cards help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of Spanish numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in Spanish. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on Spanish Numbers 0-100, but also for cover lessons, as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity. All questions are in Spanish, and range in complexity and challenge, both in terms of language and number skills. I’ve used visual prompts such as maths symbols to ensure all learners can engage with the questions, and this helps them to begin to infer meaning from context, and to decode cues and prompts to foster understanding. I don’t allow the use of calculators to increase the challenge a little. Some questions focus specifically on Spanish maths language, which students do not always engage with very often. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically, which is***integral to successful language learning***. My students also genuinely enjoy creating questions for each other. The set comprises the following non-editable files: 48 differentiated question cards, 6 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Laminate if possible - it’s definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as they’re far more learner-friendly and last for absolutely years. 2-page answer recording sheet, best printed double-sided. I use recording sheets for more formal assessment purposes. My students all have class workbooks, and they use those to work out their answers, and to note them down, saving both prep time and paper. 2-page answer key, again best printed double-sided, and laminated if you can. One answer key for each small group is sufficient. Answer keys are essential in my view - they encourage students to develop more independence in their learning, and offer students an additional opportunity to engage with language. French-speaking countries, capital cities and flags label and colour worksheets provide great learning opportunities for any appropriate age group, at any time of the school year, and are definitely the perfect activity for consolidating knowledge of these countries and flags - students definitely really enjoy testing their memory and colouring the flags. Students***develop their language skills, as well as their knowledge of both the French-speaking and wider world***, in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. These 60 challenge cards are perfect for developing Italian language skills in general, as well as for practising and revising how to tell the time in Italian. There are 60 question cards, divided into two sets of 30 questions, full answer key and a recording sheet. The questions are a straightforward introduction to, and practice of, a range of analogue clock times in Italian. I generally work with telling the time in Italian quite quickly with my beginner Italian students, as it lends itself really well to promoting speaking in the classroom, discussing daily routines for example. There are two questions: Che ora è? (1 o’clock, 5 past one etc) / Che ore sono? with a particular clock face, and students write the response on their recording sheet or in their workbooks. The second question is Vero o falso? and students write either vero or falso - where the answer is falso, remind students to write the correct time for additional consolidation. These 60 challenge cards are perfect for developing Italian language skills in general, as well as for practising and revising how to tell the time in Italian. There are 60 question cards, divided into two sets of 30 questions, full answer key and a recording sheet. The cards have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling, and really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities. The questions are a straightforward introduction to, and practice of, quarter to and quarter past the hour in Italian. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and time creatively and practically, which is integral to successful language learning. It’s also a really popular activity too - my students really enjoy creating questions for each other. The cards have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling, and really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities. The questions are a straightforward introduction to, and consolidation of, a range of analogue clock times - I generally work with numbers quite quickly with my beginner language students, and move on to challenge card activities as soon as I can, so that they can develop independent and collaborative learning skills. There are two questions:Quelle heure est-il ? with a particular clock face, and students write the response on their recording sheet or in their workbooks. The second question is Vrai ou faux ? and students write either vrai or faux - where the answer is faux, remind students to write the correct time for additional consolidation. The cards are numbered 1-60 in words, so students should recap those numbers before they work with the challenge cards. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed, in whole or in part, outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. 400 high-frequency French adjectives, listed alphabetically both French-English and English-English with gender agreement guide - a great learning support resource for GCSE French and as a refresher and vocabulary audit for A Level French students. It’s useful to give the book to advanced KS3 French students too, as it provides a language road map with learning goals, outlining the adjectives they should ideally know by a specific stage in their learning. I create a lot of language learning reference books for my languages students, they’re really popular with my students, who like to have a bank of reference resources for both initial learning and longer-term learning and revision. There are 42 pages in the book, and all 400 adjectives are listed alphabetically French-English and English-French. Each adjective is also shown in the masculine, feminine, singular and plural forms, which my students find really helpful as they begin to engage with gender agreement in French. I use the reference book for quick vocabulary quizzes too - either I or a nominated student shouts out a French or English adjective, with teams giving the corresponding French or English adjective - I’ve found this is a really successful way of avoiding more formal vocabulary tests, while still providing students with frequent opportunity to refresh and embed essential French vocabulary. The adjectives are useful for engaging with the following topics and themes: youth, identity & lifestyle : fashion : culture, customs and traditions relationships and family : technology and social media : sport, health and fitness; free time, hobbies and interests : entertainment and leisure : food and drink; France and French-speaking countries : local, national & international global areas of interest : transport : holidays, tourism and travel : environment, pollution, recycling and climate : social issues : school, college, current and future study : work experience, skills and personal qualities : employment, ambitions and career plans Have a browse in my store for more French resources, including special offer bundles and freebies.
